Idebenone and Anti- Wrinkle Creams

General

Idebenone has been said to be the best anti wrinkle ingredient. It is a powerful anti-oxidant. However, some researchers think it needs to be used in high doses to work. The history of this amazing product is rather interesting. Idebenone is made synthetically from Coenzyme Q10. They both have similar antioxidant properties. It is smaller than Q10 by 60% but it is far superior. Right now it is being used for Alzheimer’s treatments. Said to help ensure that cells of all types won’t fall apart, skin care scientists began examining it just a few years ago. Extensive testing has suggesting it is the ideal fountain of youth.

Now, more and more anti wrinkle creams contain this ingredient which inhibits the cells from degenerating. While the most important element is that it reduces wrinkles and gives the skin a better overall appearance, it also protects the skin against environmental damage and free radicals.

So how does this miracle ingredient work? It works by preventing cellular damage and actually forms a layer around cells including mitochondria which generates energy for your body. It makes up 90% of cellular energy known as ATP. There is a large amount of Q10 in mitochondria. This ingredient protects against the skin and boosts cell production. It works under low levels of oxygen and is water soluble. Ibedenone works on the respiratory chain and is nothing like other antioxidants. It has the highest environmental protection factor when added to any products. Trials in 2004 found Ibedenone better than vitamin C, E, kinetin and alpha lipoic acid.

The ingredient, when added to other products, is being hailed as the “the dream cream” making it highly sought after by skin care and cosmetics companies. More research needs to be done in order to determine if this ingredient is in fact better than its popular rival Q10, but we already know that it drastically reduces lines and sun damage.

Unfortunately, if you want to try this new product, it will cost you. An ounce runs $120. You could wait till there are more studies or until the price falls, but if you are leaning towards giving it a shot, the cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden carries a product which stands out among the rest.

You can also find anti wrinkle creams with this ingredient from spas, online, surgeons and fine salons. The only problem with Idebenone is that it needs to be kept fresh in order to work. If it comes in contact with oxygen it becomes inactive. It’s important to note that it should be used with a sunscreen for the best protection.

While there is research behind this miracle ingredient, it certainly doesn’t come at a small price tag, even when mixed with other ingredients. However, those options that include it seem to be worth the cost to protect your skin from whatever the environment throws its way. This so called “dream cream” will cost you, but if it makes you look years younger than it could be worth it!
