Preventing Wrinkles

Wrinkles are a part of life. Everybody has to come to terms with aging at some point or another, and getting wrinkles is part of that aging process. Sure, there are treatments that can hide the effects of aging - face lifts, chemical peels, microdermabrasion. You name it, there is a cosmetic procedure for it and it can help get rid of wrinkles. Have you ever considered the fact that the prevention of wrinkles is a lot more valuable than any anti wrinkle cream on the market today? Here are five proven tips that should help you to prevent getting wrinkles so that you aren’t reaching for your first anti aging cream before your time.

Don’t Overuse the Bar of Soap

People think that soap is needed to get their bodies clean, and that is not the case. Water should be enough to get the body clean enough and as the body gets older soap has less and less of a desirable effect on the skin. It tends to dry skin out, making it hard to deal with and leading to wrinkles. Skin is only needed in areas that tend to collect odor. If you sound like one of those people that abuse the bar of soap, stop before you are in need of a cream.

Protect Yourself from the Sun

Using sunscreen is the best way to protect yourself from the sun. Use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 to help provide protection against harmful UV rays. UV rays are extremely harsh on the skin as they break down collagen and help in the creation of enzymes that create wrinkles. No product in the world can help you if you just can’t stay out of the sun, so use sun block if you absolutely must and limit your sunbathing—preferably to none.

Don’t Smoke

If you smoke, quit. If you don’t smoke, don’t start. More people are smoking every day. It is a good stress reliever in the short term but it can cause wrinkles and other skin problems. It dehydrates skin, creates wrinkles from puckering around the mouth, and leads to premature aging. They can help, but when wrinkles are due to smoking and not the natural aging process it is not as easy to reverse the effects with these products.

Eat Well

The best place to start with treating your wrinkles is from the inside. There is no anti wrinkle cream that can do what a healthy diet can do. Fatty foods like red meat as well as foods that are high in sugar can wreak havoc on your face and cause wrinkles. Consider a diet high in protein and every other vitamin and mineral that your body needs. Also, drink a lot of water. Water helps the skin to look healthy and hydrated and keep its elasticity. When you drink enough water, you are giving your skin an advantage in the fight against wrinkles and make the need for anti wrinkle creams less apparent.
